CISCO Has Released Security Patches for Privilege Escalation Vulnerabilities In BPA and WSA
Privilege escalation vulnerabilities detailed in CVE-2021-1574 and CVE-2021-1576 which were found in Business Process Automation (BPA) and Web Security Appliance (WSA) that expose users to privilege escalation attacks has been patched by CISCO. The patch was released in Cisco BPA version 3.1 and later. It is therefore advisable for Administrators to update their systems to the newest version. (Source: Security Affairs)
American Investment Bank Firm Morgan Stanley Discloses A Data Breach
“On May 20, 2021, the American multinational investment bank and financial services firm Morgan Stanley was notified that one of their servers has been hacked. The threat actors exploited multiple zero-day vulnerabilities in the File Transfer Appliance (FTA) software.
They then had access to the data of Morgan Stanley customers that include names, addresses, date of birth, Social Security number, and corporate company name. The company pointed out that the exposed files did not contain passwords that could be used to access financial accounts. Even though the stolen files were stored in an encrypted format, the attackers were also able to obtain the key to decrypt them. At this time of writing, there has not been any evidence that the attackers have abused the stolen data online.
