Merging Of SSNIT Numbers And Ghana Card
All Ghanaians SSNIT contributors are required to merge their SSNIT numbers with their Ghana Card. This means that their unique scheme identification numbers will be replaced with the Ghana Card identification numbers. The merging process started on the 28th day of June 2021 and will end on the 31st day of December 2021. Contributors can register by using a USSD shortcode or using SSNIT official website.
Using the USSD (shortcode)
Dial *711*9# on your mobile phone.
Select option 1.
Enter your SSNIT Number.
Enter your email address (if the phone number you are using is different from your phone number registered in their database).
Enter the Personal ID Number on your Ghana Card.
Select option 1 to complete the merging of your SSNIT and the NIA numbers.
You will receive a notification after the merger.
Using SSNIT Website
Log onto the SSNIT website https://www.ssnit.org.gh and click the ‘My Statement’.
Log in by filling the required fields and click Sign In (Click on Get Access if you don’t have an account or click on Forgot Password if you have forgotten your password, then sign in).
At the My Statement page, click on Merge my NIA Number
Agree to the terms and conditions and click Submit and Continue
Enter your NIA Personal ID Number on the Ghana Card without the hyphen (-) and click Submit.
You will receive a notification after the merger.
Members who cannot use any of the options above should visit the nearest SSNIT Branch to be assisted in merging their SSNIT and NIA numbers. They need to go along with their:
Ghana Card or NIA Number
SSNIT Card or SSNIT number
Valid email address
Mobile phone number

Ghana Card To Replace Passport Soon
Prof Kenneth Attafuah, executive secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA) has stated in an interview that NIA has been talking with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) in order to replace passport with Ghana card. This means that Ghanaians will soon be able to use their Ghana Cards as a passport for traveling across the globe.
